Sonic Working Hours 2026
Sonic working hours at most locations run from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, with many staying open until midnight or 1:00 AM on Friday and Saturday. Hours vary by location since nearly all Sonics are franchise-owned, and holiday schedules differ. Christmas Day is the one day the chain closes across the board.
Below, I have broken down the typical daily schedule, Sunday hours, holiday hours, and how to check the exact times for your neighborhood Sonic.
Sonic is not your standard drive-thru chain. You park in a stall, order from the speaker, and a carhop brings your food out on skates. Check the full Sonic menu with prices before your visit so you know what to order.
What are Sonic working hours on a normal day?
The vast majority of Sonic locations run 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Here is the typical pattern across the chain:
| Day | Typical Opening | Typical Closing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday – Thursday | 6:00 AM | 11:00 PM | Most common schedule chain-wide |
| Friday | 6:00 AM | 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM | Many locations extend closing |
| Saturday | 6:00 AM | 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM | Latest hours of the week |
| Sunday | 7:00 – 8:00 AM | 11:00 PM | Some open an hour or two later |
Now here is the thing. Sonic has over 3,500 locations, and they are almost all independently owned and operated. So one Sonic might open at 6 and another across town at 9. Rural spots tend to close earlier, while locations near colleges or busy strips stay open later. What time does Sonic close near you? That depends entirely on your franchise owner.
Stalls vs drive-thru: do the hours differ?
At most locations, stall service and drive-thru hours are the same. Both open and close with the store. Some spots do close the drive-thru lane a bit early on slow weeknights while stalls stay open until close. For a late-night run, app order-ahead pickup is your safest bet.
What are Sonic’s opening hours on Sunday?
Most Sonics open between 7:00 and 8:00 AM on Sundays and close at their usual 11:00 PM. Some open right at 6:00 AM like a weekday, but a later start is more common. Weekend Sonic working hours make Saturday the longest day of the week at most stores.
Sunday mornings are actually a sweet spot: quieter stalls and the full breakfast menu available. If you are wondering about sonic opening hours sunday for a specific location, the Sonic app or Google Maps listing for that store will show Sunday hours individually, since they really do vary store to store.
Does Sonic serve breakfast all day?
Yes, and this is one of the best things about Sonic. Breakfast is served all day, every day, from opening (usually 6:00 AM) all the way to close, so you can order a SuperSONIC Breakfast Burrito at 8 PM if you feel like it. No 10:30 AM cutoff like other chains. Sonic breakfast hours are simply the same as Sonic’s working hours.
The all-day breakfast lineup includes burritos, toaster sandwiches, French toast sticks, and the Breakfast Smasher. Pair it with a half-price Happy Hour drink and you have one of the best fast-food deals around.
Happy hour heads-up
Sonic’s famous Happy Hour usually runs 2:00 to 4:00 PM daily with half-price drinks and slushes. The app sometimes unlocks extra Happy Hour times too, so check it before you drive over.
