DEAL: Shake Shack Free Cheeseburger This Week (Promo Code SCARYGOOD)
The Shake Shack free cheeseburger deal is back: from October 12 through 18, 2026, you get a free Single Cheeseburger with any $10 purchase. Use promo code SCARYGOOD in all caps at the in-restaurant kiosk or through the Shake Shack app or website for pickup or delivery. One free burger per order; drive-thru and third-party delivery orders do not count.
Honestly, a free burger at Shake Shack does not come around every day. This one landed right at the start of the spooky season, and it is part of a bigger October giveaway where the chain hands out a different free sandwich each week. I looked into the details, including the fine print that trips people up at checkout, so you can grab yours without any surprises.
How to Get Your Free Cheeseburger at Shake Shack
Here is the simple version: spend at least $10 on food or drinks, add a Single Cheeseburger to the same order, and enter promo code SCARYGOOD in all caps at checkout. The burger comes off your total.
Walk through it step by step:
- Start your order at an in-restaurant kiosk, in the Shake Shack app, or at shakeshack.com for pickup or delivery.
- Add at least $10 of food or drinks. The free cheeseburger does not count toward the $10, so build the rest of your order first. Fries, a shake, a second burger, whatever you like.
- Add a Single Cheeseburger to the same order.
- Enter SCARYGOOD (all caps, it will not work in lowercase) in the promo code box at checkout.
- Check that the burger rang up free before you pay. If the discount did not apply, something in the order does not qualify.
One free cheeseburger per order. If you are feeding the whole family, split a big order into two transactions and you can score a second free burger. That trick comes straight from the deal reporters who first spotted this offer.
The Fine Print on the Shake Shack SCARYGOOD Promo Code
The short answer: the offer runs October 12 through 18, 2026, at participating US locations, with one free Single Cheeseburger per order. Beyond that, the rules are tighter than they look.
First, the $10 minimum means $10 of other food and drinks, not counting the free sandwich itself. Gift card purchases are excluded too. Second, paid add-ons like avocado or bacon are not included in the freebie, so any extras land on your bill. Third, and this is the one people miss most, the deal only works on orders placed at a kiosk inside the restaurant or for pickup and delivery through the Shake Shack app or website. Drive-thru orders do not qualify, and neither do orders placed through DoorDash, Uber Eats, or any other third-party delivery app.
The maximum savings equal the price of the week’s promotional sandwich, which runs roughly eight to ten dollars depending on the location. Still, a free cheeseburger for a $10 order you were placing anyway is a pretty sweet trade.
More Free Shake Shack Sandwiches This October
Good news if you miss this week: the giveaway runs all month long. After the cheeseburger window closes, a free ShackBurger takes its place from October 19 through 31, using the same SCARYGOOD promo code and the same $10 minimum. And the week that just ended (October 1 to 11) featured a free Chicken Shack or West Coast Chicken Sandwich.
There is also a separate Sunday tradition running at the same time. Every Sunday from October 4 through December 27, 2026, Shake Shack hands out one of four free items with a $10 purchase: a Chicken Shack, a West Coast Chicken Sandwich, a ShackBurger, or six chicken bites. That one uses promo code SHACKSUNDAY, also in all caps, with the same kiosk or app ordering rules.
So between the October sandwich calendar and the Sunday chicken bonus, there is a free item on the table at Shake Shack almost every week through the end of the year. The deal reporters at Living On The Cheap, who first flagged this Halloween-season promotion, have the full schedule if you want to bookmark it.
Is the Shake Shack Free Cheeseburger Worth It?
Yes, if you were already spending $10. A Single Cheeseburger normally costs around eight to ten dollars at most locations, so the code wipes out a solid chunk of your order. It is real money off a genuinely good burger.
The only way this deal falls flat is if you buy $10 of food you did not want just to get a free burger. Be honest with yourself. But if fries and a drink were already on your list, the free cheeseburger is pure bonus. And if Sundays are more your thing, that SHACKSUNDAY chicken deal runs through Christmas week, so there is no rush.
