Handel’s Ice Cream Working Hours 2026
Most Handel’s Ice Cream locations are open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM every day of the week. Since every store is independently owned, though, some locations close earlier at 9:00 PM or stay open later on Fridays and Saturdays. Always check your local store’s page before heading out.
There is nothing worse than driving across town for ice cream and finding the lights off. So I looked into this properly. Handel’s Ice Cream hours are refreshingly simple at most stores: open at 11, closed at 10, seven days a week. Honestly, that covers the vast majority of the 175+ locations. But here is the thing. Handel’s is a franchise, which means your neighborhood shop sets its own schedule, and a handful of stores do their own thing. Want the food side too? Start with the full Handel’s Ice Cream menu with prices, then come back here for the hours.
🕐 What Are Handel’s Ice Cream Hours on Weekdays?
The short answer: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, at most locations. That is the standard rhythm you will find at stores from California to Indiana to Ohio, straight from the official store pages on handelsicecream.com.
| Day | Typical Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM |
| Tuesday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM |
| Wednesday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM |
| Thursday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM |
No breakfast cutoff to worry about here, no lunch rush. It is an ice cream shop. Doors open late morning, and they scoop until 10.
🌙 What Time Does Handel’s Ice Cream Close on Weekends?
Weekends look almost identical to weekdays at most stores: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on Sunday. Handel’s Ice Cream hours on Sunday are the same as every other day at the typical store, which is handy because Sunday evenings are prime ice cream time.
| Day | Typical Hours | Common Variations |
|---|---|---|
| Friday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Some stores stay open until 11:00 PM |
| Saturday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Some stores stay open until 11:00 PM |
| Sunday | 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM | Rarely varies, 10:00 PM is the norm |
A few stores stretch to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the late crowd. Others, like some Ohio and Alabama locations, wrap up at 9:00 PM or 9:30 PM nightly. So “what time does Handel’s Ice Cream close” really means “which Handel’s are we talking about?”
🏪 Are Handel’s Hours the Same at Every Location?
No, and that is the one thing to remember from this whole article. Every Handel’s store is independently owned and operated, so the franchisee sets the schedule. The brand posts “subject to change” right on its own store pages, and they mean it.
Here is what I found when comparing stores:
- The standard: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily (Encino CA, Chula Vista CA, Northridge CA, Cuyahoga Falls OH, Carmel IN, Medina OH, Redondo Beach CA and many more).
- Earlier closers: some Midwest and Southern stores close at 9:00 PM or 9:30 PM every night.
- Late-night weekends: a few stores, like one in Long Beach CA, stay open until 11:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Odd ducks: at least one location opens at noon on weekdays and runs a shorter day.
- Mall locations: stores inside malls follow the mall’s hours, not the standard schedule, so a Sunday mall closing at 6:00 PM means the Handel’s inside closes then too.
If you are searching for Handel’s hours near me, do not trust the 11-to-10 default blindly. It is right most of the time, but “most of the time” is not what you want when the kids are already in the car.
🎄 Handel’s Ice Cream Holiday Hours: Christmas, Thanksgiving and More
Here is the honest rundown. Handel’s Ice Cream holiday hours are not posted nationally, because again, franchisees decide. But the pattern across locations is pretty consistent:
- Summer holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day): most stores stay open with regular hours. Ice cream on the 4th of July is practically a tradition, and stores know it.
- Thanksgiving: many locations close for the day or run shortened hours. Do not count on a post-turkey cone.
- Christmas Eve: expect reduced hours at most stores, often closing in the early evening.
- Christmas Day: is Handel’s open on Christmas? The majority of locations are closed. A small number of franchisees may open with limited hours, but assume closed unless your local store says otherwise.
- New Year’s Day and Easter: these go either way. Plenty of stores open normally, some trim their hours.
Your move: check your store’s page on the official site or give them a call before any holiday trip. Holiday schedules are usually posted on the store’s social media a day or two ahead.
📍 How to Check Your Local Handel’s Store Hours
Three quick ways, pick whichever is fastest:
- Official store locator: head to handelsicecream.com and use the store finder. Every location page lists its own hours, address and phone number. This is the most reliable source.
- Google Maps: search “Handel’s Ice Cream near me” and tap the store. Google shows today’s hours right at the top, plus holiday hour updates when owners post them.
- Call ahead: old school, still undefeated. Especially on holidays and during bad weather, a 30-second call beats a wasted trip.
